A free guide from Allie Williams Advisory
Telling your boss you're pregnant.
I promise it is a much smaller conversation than it feels right now.
You are telling your boss you're pregnant. You do not need your entire maternity leave mapped out yet. Three pages: when to tell them, what to actually say, and what you don't need to have figured out.

What's inside
Three pages. Read it once, then use it as a reference.
01
When to tell them
There isn't one magic week. My rule of thumb is around 16 weeks, plus what to check first if you plan to take job-protected leave.
02
What you could actually say
Two versions, word for word. One straightforward, one for a manager you're close with. Five to ten minutes, inside a one-on-one you already have.
03
What you don't need yet
Not your last day, your return date, the length of your leave, or a coverage plan. What to say when they ask anyway.
04
Three things to remember
You are not delivering bad news. You don't have to prove your commitment. And someone else's leave is not yours to solve.
Who wrote this
I'm Allie.
A senior leader in big tech and a mom of three kids under five. I've had this exact conversation three times in five years, and I was nervous every time.
This is the guide I wish someone had handed me. It is a much smaller conversation than it feels right now.
